Early services
Methow Valley United Methodist Church will add an early worship service at 8:30 a.m. on Sundays in June, July and August. The first Sunday of each month will offer a Taize service, the second Sunday a liturgical service, the third Sunday a Holden service and the fourth Sunday a more contemporary service. Learning about soil
Soil scientist Luke Cerise will talk about the soil environment at Triple Creek near Chesaw on June 14, an outdoor event sponsored by Okanogan Highlands Alliance. The free outing requires pre-registration; attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis with alliance members given priority. Wildflower hikes with local botanists
The local Okanogan Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society has three hikes planned for June. The outings are free and open to the public until they fill:
• On June 5, Rosalee de la Floret will lead a leisurely stroll down the Big Valley trail. Email rosalee@herbmentor.com to register.
