After 10 years of work on an update to the plan that covers development and protections along the county’s lakes and rivers, the Okanogan County commissioners may be ready to sign off on the plan.
Once adopted by the commissioners, the plan will be forwarded to the state Department of Ecology for additional public review and final adoption as part of a program for all the state’s water bodies.
The commissioners have scheduled a public hearing on the Shoreline Master Program on June 9 at 3 p.m. in their hearing room in Okanogan. People can submit written comments in advance to ljohns@co.okanogan.wa.us. Written and oral input will also be accepted at the hearing.
The draft plan and appendices are available at okanogancounty.org/planning or by contacting Kellie Jo Conn at kconn@co.okanogan.wa.us or (509) 422-7160.
