Although it has already been open for visitors this spring, the Shafer Museum in Winthrop will celebrate its official 2015 grand opening on Sunday (May 24). There will be music, demonstrations and some of the best cookies in town, museum volunteers promise.
The museum is on Castle Avenue one block north of Riverside Avenue. It can also be reached by way of wooden stairs leading up from Riverside just east of the Duck Brand Cantina.
Starting next week, the museum will be open every day. Admission is free; donations are encouraged. Buildings will be open from 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and the grounds will be open during daylight hours. For more information, call 996-2712.
