A Carlton resident was injured Friday (May 1) in a two-car accident just east of Winthrop.
According to a Washington State Patrol report, Charity D. Gibson, 44, of Carlton, was driving eastbound on Highway 20 about a mile east of Winthrop at about 7:15 p.m. when she stopped her SUV to let a deer cross the highway. Gibson’s vehicle was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by Brady A. Emmons, 29, of Everson, the State Patrol said.
Farehrose G. Roth, 15, of Carlton, a passenger in Gibson’s vehicle, was injured and transported to Three Rivers Hospital in Brewster, the report said.
Neither Emmons nor Gibson was injured, and all the vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts, according to the State Patrol. There was no evidence that drugs or alcohol were involved, the report said.
Both vehicles were damaged but were able to be driven from the scene.
The State Patrol report said that a charge of following too close was pending against Emmons.
