DamNation screening in Mazama
The documentary film DamNation will be shown Friday (May 8) at the Mazama Community Club at 7 p.m. The film is presented by the Global Youth Leadership Initiative project by local teenagers. Suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds will go to the American Rivers organization. For more information, call 996-2557.
Master Gardeners plant sale
The WSU Master Gardeners annual plant sale will be on Saturday (May 9) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Civic League Park, next to the Omak Public Library in downtown Omak. Annual and perennial flowers, vegetable starts, herbs, bulbs, and grape starts are just some of the many items available. Master Gardeners will also be ready to help you make selections, and find answers to those pressing gardening questions.
Fix your bikes, too
The Thursday night “fix your gear” session at eqpd in TwispWorks will add “fix your bike” to its weekly offerings during the usual time, from 4-7 p.m. Get help with bike cleaning and minor fixes.
Used book sale coming
The Twisp library’s used book sale will be on May 23 in the Methow Valley Community Center gym, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Gently used books may be donated during the week of May 18 in the gym. For more information, call 997-4681.
Firewise award for Wilson Ranch
Wilson Ranch near Mazama has been recognized as a Firewise Communities/USA site for its efforts to reduce the vulnerability of homes and landscapes to fire. The award was presented Saturday (May 2) at the Freestone Inn. Many Wilson Ranch landowners have participated in addressing wildfire issues in their back yards, and a Firewise information center has been created on the community website.
