The Liberty Bell High School softball team threw up big numbers — and allowed a total of only two runs — in three wins last week on its home field.
On April 21, the Lady Lions needed just three innings to put away Manson, 15-0, under the 15-run lead rule.
Pitcher Kelsey Baldwin struck out four and walked one, and the defense backed her with an error-free game, coach Lee Pilkinton said.
The offense needed just seven hits to generate the 15 runs. Baldwin was two-for-three with a double. Lauren Ochoa, Baylee Canedo, Whitney Fox, Carly McMeans and Nadine Treise all chipped in hits.
The Lady Lions swept Lake Roosevelt, 8-1 and 16-1, in a double header on Friday (April 24).
The first game went seven innings with Baldwin pitching again and holding Lake Roosevelt to three hits. Liberty Bell rapped out nine hits and added eight walks and four stolen bases. Ochoa, Canedo and McMeans all had two hits.
The second game ended in the fourth inning, again under the 15-run lead rule. Baldwin was on the mound again for her third win of the week.
Liberty Bell finished with five hits: Baldwin had two and Canedo, Fox and Treise each had one.
“The team is continuing to improve on defense from game to game,” Pilkinton said.
Liberty Bell hosts Pateros for a double-header on Thursday (April 30) with the first game at 3:30 p.m. On Friday, the Lady Lions host Brewster at 4:30 p.m.
