Twisp resident and Liberty Bell High School coach Micah Knox, 31, was injured last week in a single-car rollover accident on Balky Hill Road.
Knox was listed in serious condition on Tuesday (April 28) at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
Okanogan County sheriff’s dispatch received a call at 6:15 a.m. on April 23 from a passerby who reported seeing Knox’s car off the road near milepost 4 on Balky Hill Road, said Sheriff Frank Rogers. It’s not known when the accident occurred, Rogers said.
Knox was ejected from his vehicle when it went over an embankment and rolled several times, said Rogers.
He was treated at the scene by Aero Methow Rescue Service and then airlifted by Northwest MedStar to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
Knox served as head junior high football coach last year at Liberty Bell.
Hunter Maltais, activities director at Liberty Bell, has created a GoFundMe account, at www.gofundme.com/svg8c4, to raise money for Knox’s family. He said the fund has raised about $2,500 as of early this week.
Maltais is also organizing a fundraising car wash on Saturday (May 2) to raise money. The car wash will be held from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Do It Center in Twisp.
“He was the primary breadwinner and he has five children,” Maltais said.
