The Liberty Bell High School softball team took three out of four games in a busy week of competition after coming back from spring break.
On April 14, the Lady Lions overwhelmed Tonasket at home, 14-2 in a five-inning game. Kelsey Baldwin pitched 4 1/2 innings and Devin Surface pitched half an inning, finishing out the game. “The girls had a good outing on defense,” coach Lee Pilkinton said. Baylee Canedo was two for four at the plate and Surface hit a double.
Liberty Bell traveled to Brewster on Thursday (April 16), where they were defeated, 6-3.
“The girls played hard and it was a very close game,” Pilkinton said. “ We had good pitching by Baldwin.” The team had five hits and committed four errors, Pilkinton said.
The Lady Lions swept a double-header at Bridgeport on Saturday (April 18) with an offensive outburst that produced 19-0 and 20-7 wins. Baldwin pitched both games for Liberty Bell.
In the first game, Kuirstin Pilkinton blasted a grand slam home run and had five runs batted in. Canedo went three for five, and Whitney Fox contributed a triple.
In the second game, Lauren Ochoa had two hits, Pilkinton had two hits and three RBIs, and Carly McMeans had two hits and two RBIs.
The Lady Lions played Manson at home on Tuesday (April 21), and host Lake Roosevelt on Friday (April 24) at
4:30 p.m. They travel to Pateros on April 30 before returning home for games against Brewster on May 1 and Okanogan on May 4.
