Deadline for special hunt permits
Hunters have through May 20 to apply for special hunting permits for fall deer, elk, mountain goat, moose, bighorn sheep and turkey seasons in Washington state. Permit winners will be selected through a random drawing conducted by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) in late June. The special permits qualify hunters to hunt at times and places beyond those authorized by a general hunting license.
Applications and licenses are available from licensed vendors statewide or on WDFW’s website at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wdfw/special_permits.html. Most special hunt permit applications cost $7.10 for residents, $110.50 for non-residents, and $3.80 for youth under 16 years of age.
Bike Rodeo coming to TwispWorks
Methow Cycle and Sport, Aero Methow Rescue Service and the Winthrop Kiwanis are bringing this year’s Bike Rodeo back to TwispWorks on May 16 from 10 a.m.–noon. The free Bike Rodeo is a chance for young kids (recommended 3 years old and over) to learn bike safety skills on a fun course, and take a ride around town with Pearrygin Lake State Park rangers Rick Lewis and Bryan Alexander. There will also be fun giveaways and a chance to tour one of Aero Methow’s ambulances. For more information, contact Julie Muyllaert at Methow Cycle and Sport, juliem@methowcyclesport.
