Tennis boys win, girls lose, in match at Lake Roosevelt; Oroville next

The Liberty Bell High School boys’ tennis team returned to its winning ways with a 3-2 victory at Lake Roosevelt on March 31, while the Lady Lions lost to the home team by the same score.

The boys now stand at 3-1 for the season, while the girls are at 1-3. Both will play at Oroville on Tuesday (April 14).

For the boys, Clayton Avery beat Lake Roosevelt’s Edmund Fenton, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 1 singles match. Liberty Bell’s Stoney Hulon lost to Isaiah Baty, 6-1, in the No. 2 singles match, while Mountain Lion D.J. Haley overwhelmed Malcolm Carson, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 3 singles competition.

Both boys’ doubles teams triumphed. Jesse Schulz and Dreyton Acord beat Will Friedlander and Corban Wilder, 6-2, 6-0. Forest Rickabaugh and Greyson Alexander teamed up to overcome Christian Ruiz and Josh Wilder, 6-1, 6-4.

On the girls’ side, Emily Alexander, playing in the No. 1 singles spot for Liberty Bell, lost to Lake Roosevelt’s Harmony Witten, 6-1, 6-1. Playing in the No. 2 slot, the Lady Lions’ Lucie Dupont fell to Areille White, 6-4, 6-2. Tiva Ward, Liberty Bell’s No. 3 singles player, lost to Tanya Ang, 6-1, 6-0.

The Lady Lions swept the doubles matches. Sidni and Logan Butler bested Lake Roosevelt’s Rylee Pitner and Alayna Herman 6-2, 6-1. Chloe Temple and Tabitha Bergevin-Krumme outlasted Hannah Williams and Mary Clark, 6-1, 0-6, 6-2.
