Four riders from the Moccasin Lake Equestrian Team, coached by Annie Budiselich, attended a clinic this past weekend (March 27-29) in Kennewick taught by accomplished equestrian Eric Smiley. Smiley has represented Ireland in the sport of eventing at two European Championships, gaining team bronze medal on each occasion. Eventing is often referred to as a “triathlon” for horses, including three phases of competition: dressage, stadium jumping, and cross-country. Smiley has also competed at three World Equestrian Games and been on four Olympic Teams competing at Barcelona and Atlanta. The team spent the weekend refining their riding skills under the watchful eye of Smiley, to prepare for the upcoming competition season.
