Lady Lions drop tough one to Chelan, bounce back with win over Tonasket on road

April 9, 2015 by Methow Valley News

The Liberty Bell High School softball team split a couple of games last week, losing to Chelan at home but then beating Tonasket on the road.

On March 31, the Lady Lions dropped the Chelan game by a score of 14-8 after jumping to an early lead. Liberty Bell scored eight runs in the first two innings while holding Chelan to three. But Chelan reeled off the next 11 runs to seal the victory.

Lauren Ochoa went 3-for-4 for the Lady Lions, including a home run. Kuirstin Pilkinton, Devin Surface, Bayley Canedo and Kelsey Baldwin all batted .500 for the game.

Coach Lee Pilkinton said Liberty Bell played good defense, committing only three errors.

The Lady Lions rebounded with a 13-1 win at Tonasket on Thursday (April 2).

Baldwin pitched the entire game, giving up two hits and walking one. Canedo hit 4-for-5 including three doubles, and Pilkinton went 2-for-4 as Liberty Bell rang up 11 hits. On defense, the Lady Lions committed two errors.

Liberty Bell went into spring break with 3-2 record. The Lady Lions will host Tonasket on Tuesday (April 14) at 4:30 p.m.
