Washington State Poet Laureate Elizabeth Austen is coming to the Twisp library at 7 p.m. on April 16 to present an evening of poetry in honor of National Poetry Month.
Austen will be reading from her new chapbook manuscript and her book, Every Dress a Decision — a Washington State Book Award finalist — as well as selected poems by other writers, before opening it up to questions from the audience.
The presentation is free to the public, made possible by Humanities Washington and the Washington State Arts Commission.
Austen is a communications specialist and educator at Seattle Children’s Hospital, where she also offers poetry and journaling workshops for staff members. In addition to her responsibilities as poet laureate, Austen produces poetry programming for KUOW in Seattle and teaches at Richard Hugo House.
