The Liberty Bell High School boys’ tennis team started its season with two wins, while the girls’ team dropped both of its matches.
At Pateros on March 17, the boys won, 3-2, while the girls fell by a score of 4-1.
Josh Frey, playing first singles for the Mountain Lions, lost to Enrique Rojas. Playing second singles, Liberty Bell’s Clayton Avery beat Preston Garcia, while the Mountain Lions’ Stoney Hulon was defeated by Carlos Cemeros in the third singles match.
The Liberty Bell boys won both doubles matches. The teams of Jesse Schulz and Dreton Acord, and Greyson Alexander and Forest Rickabaugh, each won
On the girls’ side, Emily Alexander, Lucie Dupont and Neela Mitchell lost singles matches. The doubles team of Sidni and Logan Butler won its match, while Chloe Temple and Larkin Lucy lost theirs.
At Omak on Thursday (March 19) the boys took another 3-2 win while the girls lost, 5-0. Avery, Hulon and D.J. Haley won singles matches. The doubles teams of Schulz and Acord, and Greyson Alexander and Rickabaugh, each lost.
Emily Alexander, Dupont and Tiva Ward lost singles matches for the girls. The doubles teams — the Butlers, and Hannah Hogness and Temple — also were defeated.
The teams were scheduled to play White Swan on Tuesday (March 24), host Oroville on Thursday (March 26) at 4 p.m., then travel to Lake Roosevelt on Tuesday (March 31).
