To provide support for the fire recovery effort and the many volunteers that will be coming to the area to help, “strike teams” made up of local residents are being organized by the Carlton Complex Long Term Recovery Group (CCLTRG).
“We’re looking for individuals to be our local contacts in eight key areas,” said Executive Director Carlene Anders.
The teams would focus on hospitality, volunteer housing, tools, volunteer support, yard and garden, safety, paper trail and fundraising.
Housing, for example, would compile a list of housing options, including host families, and work with the volunteer coordinator to find housing for volunteers. The tool team would develop a tool list and work with the construction coordinator to acquire needed tools and check them in and out; yard and garden team will create a list of fire-affected residences that need landscaping and yard work and work with the volunteer coordinator to arrange for help; the paper trail team will help with volunteer registration and record keeping.
“In addition to housing, one of our biggest needs is for tools — particularly power tools for the rebuilding that is getting under way,” Anders said. “We need things like table saws, chop saws, Sawzalls, jackhammers, drills, compressors and more.
“We also need access to heavy equipment, like cargo trailers for transporting tools, pickups and dump trucks for hauling debris, and boom trucks for lifting beams and trusses.”
