James Ronald “Ron” Evans passed away on March 18, 2015, in Billings, Montana, after succumbing to lung cancer.

Ron was born March 4, 1958, to Fred and Dorothy Evans. A Methow Valley native, Ron grew up working alongside his father at the family’s “Lazy F” farm. He graduated from Liberty Bell High in 1976 before starting a 40-year career as an accomplished truck driver, where he maintained over 3 million safe driving miles during alternating periods of long-haul and shorter range driving. Ron proudly drove for Lloyd Logging, M & M Trucking, Road Runner Trucking, Whitley Fuel, Arrow, Carson Logging, Finch Trucking, Veith Trucking, City Service Valcon and fulfilled his dream of becoming an owner/operator when he joined the team at Ankrum Trucking in Billings.

He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 25 years, Sharon Skornicka Evans; his children Andrew (Naomi) Evans, Ben (Sarah) Evans, Jacob Tucker, Chelsea Hamm Evans, and Stephanie Skornicka; seven grandchildren; his mother Dorothy Evans; siblings Diane Evans Wahl, Elaine Evans Meis, Ron (Shirley) Evans, Tim (Kim) Evans; and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was an amazing man who led by example with his passion for an honest day’s work and enduring love for his family and country. He inspired many of us to work hard, love harder and hold pride for the “Evans” name. His laughter, smile and strength of character will surely be missed, but the legacy of family and memories he leaves behind will be treasured and celebrated always.
