
Wildfire art in Leavenworth
“The Art of Wildfire,” an exhibit featuring several Methow Valley artists, will run from April 1 – 30 at the Blackbird Bistro in Leavenworth. The exhibit is presented by Confluence Gallery in Twisp in collaboration with the Chumstick Coalition as part of the Leavenworth Community Wildfire Preparedness Week.

Start thinking about trashion
Start collecting wearable recyclable materials now for Confluence Gallery’s fifth annual Trashion Show on April 25 from 7 – 10 p.m. at the Methow Valley Community Center. Ticket prices are $15 for ages 13 and older; or $30 for VIP seating.
For participants, there is a $20 designer fee, or $10 for students. Grand prize for the best trashion fashion is $150. The Youth Award is $50; the Most Recycled Award for those over age 55 is $50; and the People’s Choice Award is $50.

Ruth Moody in Tonasket
Ruth Moody, a member of the Wailin’ Jennys vocal trio, will perform on April 4 at the Community Cultural Center in Tonasket. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 for dinner at 5:30 p.m., or $20 for the concert only. For information, call (509) 486-2061.
Next at Confluence
“Shifting Baselines,” a Confluence Gallery exhibit, will open April 18 with an artists’ reception from 4 – 8 p.m. The show will run through May 23. Curators are Dan Brown, Jennifer Molesworth and Michael Azzano. Artists have been asked to submit work “about the world, then and now, wildlife, plants and our human population that reflects on personal, cultural and/or environmental change — what was, what is, and what could be,” according to a Confluence press release. Thalia Brass Quintet coming
Mark June 6 on your calendar for an outdoor concert by the Thalia Brass Quintet at the Shafer Museum in Winthrop. The free event (donations are encouraged) begins at 3 p.m. For more information, call 996-3419.
The quintet is composed of the principal brass players and second trumpet of the Thalia Symphony. They will play selections by J. S. Bach, George Gershwin, Victor Ewald and Leonard Bernstein. The quintet will also perform a piece composed by local resident and composer Lynette Westendorf.
