Teresa Mitchell of Rocking Horse Bakery served up goodies at last year’s Bite of the Methow.
The 21st annual Bite of the Methow will match up many of the valley’s best chefs up with about 400 of the valley’s eager eaters on Saturday (March 14) at the Winthrop Barn.
Doors open at 3 p.m. Silent auction items will be on display at several tables. Food service begins at 5 p.m. and a live auction at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and may purchased from any Kiwanis member, at Windermere Real Estate in Twisp, or the Tenderfoot in Winthrop. If history is an indicator, the event may sell out early.
Once again, a seven-day cruise for two on Holland America Line will be raffled off at the Bite. Cruise winners can choose a trip to Mexico, the Caribbean, New England or Alaska. Five hundred cruise raffle tickets will be sold by Kiwanis members for $20 each.
The Bite raises money for projects that benefit valley youngsters. Past projects have improved facilities at the elementary school playground, the Winthrop ball field and the library. Last year’s Fund-A-Dream project raised more than $11,000 to help replace wrestling mats at Liberty Bell High School. The cruise raffle generated another $4,000.
There will also be several awards handed out to the chefs in a variety of categories.
The first Bite of the Methow, held in 1995, raised around $1,200 for Kiwanis projects, and it has just kept growing.
