A warrant has been issued in Okanogan County Superior Court for the arrest of Gloria Marie Mathyer, 51, of Twisp, who is charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and third-degree driving while license suspended or revoked, all related to a fatal accident on June 7, 2014.
According to the warrant and earlier Washington State Patrols reports, Mathyer was traveling north on Highway 153 about seven miles south of Twisp when her vehicle swerved to the shoulder. Mathyer’s vehicle then allegedly swerved back across the northbound lane and into the southbound lane, where it collided with a southbound motorcycle driven by James E. Stutzman, 56, of Arlington.
Stutzman and his passenger, Cynthia J. Stutzman, 60, also of Arlington, were thrown from the motorcycle, according to State Patrol reports. James Stutzman died en route to a hospital. Cynthia Stutzman was taken to Three Rivers Hospital in Brewster, where she was treated for various injuries. Both were wearing helmets, according to the State Patrol reports.
Mathyer suffered minor injuries and was also treated at Three Rivers.
A blood test showed evidence of methamphetamines and morphine in Mathyer’s system, according to the warrant.
The original State Patrol report identified Mathyer as a Spokane resident.
