Two positions on the Okanogan County Electric Cooperative board of directors are up for election this year, and members of the co-operative who are interested in running for the board should submit their names by March 7.
One position represents District 3, which is the south area of the service territory and includes the Davis Lake, Pine Forest, Balky Hill and Twisp/Twisp River areas. The board member needs to reside in this area.
The other position is an at-large position and members residing anywhere in the service area can run for this seat. Each position is for a three-year term.
Both incumbents — Dave Gens, at-large, and Paul Taylor, district 3 — plan to run for re-election.
The co-op has established nomination committees, according to its bylaws, that are responsible for nominating at least one member for each position. The committees do not endorse any candidate but make sure that candidates are qualified and there is at least one candidate per position.
People interested in running for the board should contact General Manager David Gottula at 996-2228 or one of the members of the nomination committees.
Members of the at-large nomination committee are Ed Surette, 996-2154; Joe Cailler, 996-4244; Rick Lewis, 996-3766 and Rita Jensen, 996-4279.
Members of the district 3 nomination committee are Don Carlson, 996-3631; Kurt Ramcke, 996-8129; and David Ekblad, 996-4226.
The election is conducted in conjunction with the co-op’s annual meeting in April.
