Great response
Dear Editor:
For over 20 years our group of friends have enjoyed skiing the Rendezvous huts and valley trails of the beautiful Methow Valley. This year as we skied up the Rendezvous trails last week, one of our group, Steve, had a heart attack while approaching Gardner Hut. Upon calling the Rendezvous Trails and 911, we received excellent response from Ben and Virginia Nelson, current owners of the huts, and from the valley’s emergency medical teams, to evacuate him from that remote spot to the emergency room at Three Rivers Hospital in Brewster. This occurred in less than three hours, despite all helicopters being grounded by fog! By the time he left Brewster, his heart attack was under control, and he now is recovering in Seattle.
All of the emergency responders acted with great speed and skill, and probably saved his life. For that Steve, and all of us, are all deeply grateful.
