Cascadia and the Pipestone School of Music are now accepting applications for the Christine Cherrington Memorial Scholarship awards. Interested music students may apply for merit- or needs-based scholarships.
Applications are available through local music teachers and at school offices, and are due by Feb. 23.
Successful applicants will be assigned an audition time on March 8, where they will perform one piece of music and be interviewed by a panel of three judges. The judges will evaluate the performances and determine the awards.
Peter Aspholm, Stephanie Strong and Erik Ellis were the winners of last year’s merit awards.
Applications will be accepted later in the spring for the Liberty Bell High School graduating senior music award. That scholarship, awarded last year to Erik Ellis, is given to a graduating senior who intends to continue their music education in college.
Cascadia/Pipestone also offers a sponsorship program, through which community members may sponsor all or part of the tuition costs of a student who otherwise couldn’t afford the lessons. Contact the Cascadia/Pipestone office at 997-0222 for more information.
