A reception for the winning entries in the Winthrop Gallery’s annual Dog & Cat Photo Contest will be held on Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 996-3925.

A visit with The Bard

The Merc Playhouse in Twisp will present Rod Molzahn in “A Visit With Will” — a performance that brings the works of William Shakespeare to life — on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the benefit performance are $15 for adults and $5 for age 18 and under, and can be purchased online at wwww.mercplayhouse.org.

Molzahn has been bringing Shakespeare to life for audiences throughout the United States and Canada since 1986, according to a Merc Playhouse press release. He performs regularly in theaters, schools, universities, fairs, and festivals. Molzahn is currently directing The Merc’s Children’s Theater production of As You Like It.

For more information, call 997-7529.

Artists talk about Conservancy book

Local artists who contributed to the  book Methow Out My Window, produced by the Methow Conservancy, will share stories about the project at The Merc Playhouse in Twisp on Feb. 16. The free event begins at 7:30 p.m.

A panel of artists who contributed to the book will share their behind-the-scenes reflections on their submissions, while Laura Gunnip and Robin Doggett of Door No. 3 will provide insights on the process of the actual making of the book, according to a press release from the Conservancy.

Reflecting on the theme “What do you see out your Methow Window?,” artists created original linoleum block prints, photographs and poetry, all of which are in the handmade, limited-edition book. Only 250 copies have been created. This project is a collaboration among the Methow Conservancy, Door No. 3 in Twisp, the master bookmakers at Mighty Tieton in the Yakima Basin, and 17 Methow Valley artists.

Artists will be on hand to sign copies of the book, which will be for sale. Proceeds from the sales will support the Methow Conservancy’s annual operating fund. For more information, call 996-2870.
