Small ensembles featured in Cascadia concert

January 26, 2015 by Methow Valley News

Cascadia presents a concert highlighting six small classical and jazz ensembles featuring the talents of young — and not-quite-so-young — musicians, on Sunday (Jan. 25) at The Merc Playhouse in Twisp.

Classical selections include music by Dmitri Shostakovich and Robert Schumann played by a viola quintet. Another classical offering is the first movement of the Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins by Johann Sebastian Bach, played by some of the Methow’s exceptional young string musicians.

The Pipestone Jazz Ensemble will perform selections by Victor Herbert, Stanley Turrentine and Bebel Gilberto.

The concert is at 2 p.m. Admission is by donation.
