Richard Kuligowski, 71, of Winthrop, passed away on Jan. 2, 2015. He was born June 24, 1943, in Bayonne, New Jersey, then moved to Staten Island, New York, in 1948, where he was raised. He met his wife, Kazimeria Leniszewski, in Staten Island and they were married in 1965. They moved to Bremerton, Washington, in 1965 to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard after an apprenticeship at the then-closed Brooklyn Naval Shipyard. He worked at PSNS until 1995 as a nuclear machinist working up to a supervisory position.
Richard was a good and caring father for his sons David and Jason and had warm relationships with his granddaughters Aleksandra, Zoey and Olivia. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with his family, and an avid scuba diver, logging in over 400 dives all over the world. He participated in Boy Scouts with his sons as pack and troop administrator, hiking, and teaching merit badges. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of Elks Club, Bremerton Yacht Club, and Bremerton Rifle and Pistol Club. He was a well-accomplished collector of junk and many useful things. He enjoyed working with his hands building things, and taught his sons to fix just about anything.
He is survived by his wife, Kazia Kuligowski, of 49 years; sons David, 46, and wife Monika, and Jason, 41, and wife Aubry; three granddaughters, Aleksandra, Zoey and Olivia; and two brothers, Alan and Robert Kuligowski and their families.
