Snowshoe tours

Methow Trails is sponsoring free “Nature of Winter” snowshoe tours that include lessons about the area’s natural history on Saturdays through Feb. 21 at North Cascades Basecamp and Sun Mountain Lodge. The tours begin at 11 a.m. at both locations and will last 90 to 120 minutes. A trail pass is required. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of 10 participants. Hockey for women

Drop-in sessions for women who like to play hockey will be offered on Thursdays at Winthrop Ice & Sports Rink beginning at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10. For more information, call 996-4199.

Skating lessons

Skating lessons for all ages will offered on Saturdays in a four-week series of sessions beginning Saturday (Jan. 10) at Winthrop Ice & Sports Rink. Cost is $55. The sessions each will begin at noon. Register at winthropicerink.com or at the rink. For more information call Ann Sprague at (509) 322-3900. The rink will also offer freestyle figure skating lessons on Sunday (Jan. 11) and Jan. 18 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Cost is $10 or free with a season pass. For more information, call 996-4199.

Free skiing for fire victims’ kids

School-age children of families that lost their homes in the Carlton Complex Fire may be eligible for a free seasonal lift pass, free lessons and free equipment usage at Loup Loup Ski Bowl, thanks to funds raised at the Loup’s annual “Taste of Three Valleys” auction.
