Jobs for fire rebuilding

January 8, 2015 by Methow Valley News

Application deadlines in January

The Carlton Complex Long Term Recovery Group is hiring three positions to help with rebuilding: two volunteer coordinators (one is a VISTA volunteer) and a reconstruction manager.

The volunteer coordinators will assist in recruitment and management of volunteer teams, conduct outreach to charities active in disaster rebuilding, communicate with volunteer teams and the reconstruction manager, arrange for housing, serve as a liaison with other recovery organizations, and keep records of volunteer activities, among other responsibilities. The invididuals should have good organizational skills and know data-management software.

The reconstruction manager will oversee the repair or rebuild of homes, conduct project inspections and provide estimates for labor and materials, supervise volunteers and contractors, maintain records and manage funds, and demonstrate and teach construction skills to volunteers and disaster survivors, among other responsibilities. The person should have a minimum of five years of experience in general construction and a basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.

The Long Term Recovery Group is a countywide nonprofit dedicated to assisting families and individuals recovering from the impacts of the Carlton Complex Fire. These positions will be hired for one year with the intent of extending to a second year, depending on funding and scope of work.

The deadline for application for the VISTA volunteer coordinator is Jan. 12. The application must be filed online at https://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?id=58556.

The deadline to apply for the other two jobs is Jan. 20.
