The Methow Valley School District has added a half-day of school on Friday, Feb. 13, to make-up for the snow day declared the day before Thanksgiving because of heavy snowfall, power outages and downed trees. Feb. 13 will be an early-release day.
Since Feb. 13 was initially scheduled as the first day of mid-winter break, district administrators realize that some people may already have made travel plans. They ask that people notify the school office if a child will be absent.
State law sets a 180-day school calendar and therefore requires that the district make up the missed day.
