Winthrop’s Sadie and Erik Bjornsen — siblings, 2014 winter Olympians and now, teammates on the U.S. Cross-Country Ski Team — are in Lillehammer, Norway, for the second in a series of World Cup events that began in Kuusamo, Finland, on Nov. 29-30, and will conclude at Oslo, Norway, in March.

The Bjornsens wasted no time making their marks in World Cup competition with the best American finishes in the10-kilometer and 15K classics. Sadie placed 17th out of 76 skiers in the 10K, and Erik placed 52nd among 94 rivals in the 15K.

In the Spring Cup final, Sadie finished 29th among the women and Erik 56th in the men’s event. Methow Valley resident Caitlin Gregg is also on the U.S. team.

Here physical therapist Dickinson works on Kikkan Randall, the overall Sprint World Cup winner for the past several years, before the season’s opening race last weekend. Relaxing on the couch is the Methow Valley’s own 2014 Olympian, Sadie Bjornsen, who took 17th place in the 10-kilometer race at Kuusamo, Finland, on Sunday (Nov. 30) — the highest American finisher. Also traveling with the team are Sadie’s brother Erik Bjornsen, another 2014 Olympian, and Methow Valley resident Caitlin Gregg. Dickinson will be with the team until Dec. 8.
