The Okanogan County Noxious Weed Control Board is looking for a new member from weed area No. 3, which runs from Mazama to Brewster. Members serve a four-year term.
While the state requires control of certain noxious weeds, the weed board makes decisions about which weeds on the optional list should be added to the county’s list for mandatory control. The means of controlling weeds is left up to the property owner.
The board also sets general policy for the county weed office and approves the budget that the office submits to the county commissioners.
The Weed Control Board meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Board members are not paid for their service, but are reimbursed for travel expenses.
For more information or to obtain a nomination form for the position, call the Weed Office at (509) 422-7165.
The application deadline, which requires 10 signatures of support, is Dec. 11.
