Senior News: Nov. 19, 2014

November 20, 2014 by Methow Valley News

MVSeniorCenter

Calendar

THURSDAY, NOV. 20: Bingo following lunch.

SATURDAY, NOV. 22: Christmas Sale begins.

MONDAY, NOV. 24: Thanksgiving lunch, gift basket drawing during lunch.

Notes

The Senior Center lunch program will be closed on Nov. 27 and 28 in observance of Thanksgiving.

The Christmas Sale will begin on Saturday (Nov. 22) at 9 a.m. We have a room filled with everything Christmas at great prices.

There will be no dance in the month of December.

The Veterans Day event hosted by the Senior Center was a wonderful success.  Approximately 50 veterans from all branches of the armed forces were in attendance along with their guests. Many thanks to John Fleming, who hosted the event, and Shawn Graves, who spoke about the veterans’ “Beyond the Yellow Ribbon” program. Much appreciation also to Hank Cramer and Rob Thran, who delighted us with outstanding music and the Scouts who helped serve the tables.

The Rummage Room is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. We are now closed on Saturdays until next April. We greatly appreciate your donations of “gently used” clothing and household items. The money your donations bring in allows us to pay building expenses and maintain the Senior Center.

The Senior Center is located next to the Methow Valley Community Center on Highway 20 in Twisp. Lunch is served at noon by the Okanogan County Transportation and Nutrition Program on Monday, Thursday and Friday. The suggested donation for lunch is $3.25 for seniors over age 60; the cost is $8 for those under 60. For more information, call 997-7722.

Transportation is available locally for the senior lunch program, and for monthly trips to Omak/Okanogan the second Tuesday of the month and to Wenatchee the third Tuesday of the month. Call the Senior Center at 997-7722 for additional details.
