A new, low-power radio station, KTRJ-LP 93.7 FM, is now broadcasting 24 hours a day, seven days a week from a studio at the home of David, Julie and Kaity Corrigan in the Twin Lakes area of Winthrop.
Radios in the vicinity of Winthrop should be able to receive the signal, which has been heard on car radios from Mazama to Carlton, according to Program Manager Julie Corrigan.
The station was licensed in August after receiving its construction permit from the FCC in February along with two other low-power license applicants in Twisp. They were given an 18-month window to put the station together, Corrigan said.
KTRJ-LP plays “good, upbeat music,” Corrigan said, with an emphasis on Christian programming. It plays old-time radio shows in the evenings, Focus on the Family’s “Adventures in Odyssey,” and bluegrass shows on the weekends. “Programming is a work in progress,” she said.
The station is now accepting public service announcements from community organizations. Submissions may be made by email to bruiser@centurytel.net. For more information, call (509) 341-4025.
