The Liberty Bell High School varsity volleyball team will travel to Pateros on Thursday (Oct. 30) to take on Lake Roosevelt in a loser-out tiebreaker to determine which team advances to post-season competition.
The 5-9 Lady Lions are currently in fifth place in the Central Washington 2B North division.
Liberty Bell lost three straight games to league-leading and undefeated Okanogan when the Lady Lions hosted the Bulldogs on Senior Night last Thursday (Oct. 23).
Despite some outstanding individual plays from seniors Baylee Canedo, Torie Weber, Ashley Watson and Alison Ryan and leads at intervals in the second and third game, the Lady Lions could not beat back the tall and powerful Bulldogs, who once again demonstrated how they managed a 13-0 season.
Junior Erin Frey had some outstanding blocks at the net and sophomore Lauren Fitzmaurice was firing bullets from her jumping overhand serves, while sophomore Erin Schuh and freshman Katie Labanauskas were having a good night passing and setting. But Okanogan remained steady to maintain its perfect record with wins of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-16.
Seniors Canedo, Weber, Watson, Ryan, Kuirstin Pilkinton, Sarina Williams and Jessica Johnson were honored by coach Tim Boonstra for their outstanding contributions to the varsity and JV teams.
