Bid on soup bowls

Soup bowls that were hand-painted by valley residents for Room One’s annual Soup Dinner are available for pre-bidding beginning on Thursday (Oct. 9) at Confluence Gallery & Art Center, Winthrop Gallery, Glassworks of Winthrop and Rocking Horse Bakery. Bids will be taken through Oct. 23. Final bidding will be at the Soup Dinner on Oct. 25. Call 997-2050 for more information.

Rally on ‘the coast’

Puget Sound-area fans of the valley are invited to a “renewal rally” hosted by the Methow Conservancy on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Mountaineers Building, 7700 Sand Point Way NE in Seattle. The free event will include a panel discussion with Susan Prichard of the Pacific Wildland Fire Sciences Laboratory; Julie Muyllaert, president of the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce and co-owner of Methow Cycle and Sport; and Oori Silberstein, a Buddhist chaplain. For more information, email sarah@methowconservancy.org or call 996-2870.
