International award-winning classical guitarist Edel Muñoz will share his artistry and music with the Methow Valley in several ways — he will perform for school students and speak to them about Cuban culture and music, give a public concert, and lead master classes for local guitarists.
The master class is on Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp. Tuition is $25 for a student, or $10 to observe or audit.
Muñoz will give a concert on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Methow Valley Inn in Twisp. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 18. Tickets are by reservation, as seating is limited.
Muñoz, who began studying guitar at age 7 in his native Cuba, received unusual acclaim for his talents just six years later, when one of the world’s guitar masters described him as “perfect” and a “professional.” Muñoz has since performed in more than 25 countries as a soloist and chamber musician.
Call Terry Hunt at 997-9344 or email Rasa Tautvydas at rasamt@yahoo.com to register for the master class or reserve a seat at the concert.
The concert is sponsored by Cascadia. Methow Arts is coordinating Muñoz’s visit to the schools.
