Gunnip’s works at The Loovre
“What’s Whole is Already Broken,” an installation by local artist Laura Gunnip, is now on exhibit at The Loovre — the bathroom at Confluence Gallery in Twisp, where smaller shows can be accommodated. Gunnip’s work will be on display through Nov. 8, concurrent with the main gallery show, “The Big Sleep.”
Murder by the Book staged at The Merc
The Merc Playhouse production of Murder by the Book, a thriller written by Duncan Greenwood and Robert King, opens on Oct. 10 and runs through Oct. 26. The play is directed by Jane Pappidas, who has appeared in many Merc productions.
The cast includes Michael Carmichael, Emily Doran, Don Fitzpatrick, Danbert Nobacon and Laurelle Walsh.
According to a Merc press release, the plot involves a thriller writer who indulges in vitriolic word duels with his estranged wife until she shoots him. An amateur detective from next door attempts to solve the murder before calling the police. “Crisp, witty exchanges pepper this light-hearted and inventive thriller that unfolds with a series of macabre twists,” according to the release.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for those under age 18. Thursday, Oct. 16, is a “pay-what-you-can” performance.
