Lene Clement-Jones 1945–2014

Lene Clement-Jones

On Sept. 14, our friend, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and spiritual adviser Lene Clement-Jones left this glorious earth peacefully, surrounded by her children and husband, to seek endeavors beyond this world.

She was born on Oct. 15, 1945, in Oregon City, Oregon, as one of four daughters, to Bud and Velda Yeaple. Lene is survived by her sister, Rita Davelaar of Wenatchee; devoted husband, Alan Clement, and his two beautiful daughters Tara and Ashlee; as well as her three loving sons Dustin, Michael and Benjamin, and daughter Cori Sue. She also left behind ex-husband and local entrepreneur Matthew Jones.

All who knew Lene knew that she was a gentle soul, who could often be found curled up in the comfort of her home with a good book and a warm cup of coffee. She didn’t take too kindly to Methow winters, and eventually moved down to sunny California to spend the rest of her days closer to her grandchildren Alex and Justin. Lene took solace in the simple things in life, and believed that every being on this earth deserved a warm smile and a hug. She was also known as a second mother to many a Methow Valley kid; as many know in a small valley like our own it takes a community.

She will truly be missed by all she came in contact with, because she left such a positive impact on every person she met. To all of those who would like to attend, a memorial service and potluck will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Winthrop Barn.
