Lady Lions soccer team bounces Bears, 3-1

September 18, 2014 by Methow Valley News

By Mike Maltais

The Liberty Bell High School varsity girls’ soccer team opened league play with a 3-1 victory over the Bears at Brewster last Thursday (Sept. 11) in what could also be labeled a “welcome back, Aden Jones” celebration.

Jones, a junior state veteran who returned to the team following a year’s absence, scored two of Liberty Bell’s three goals to add to the pair she scored in the 2-0 shutout against Tonasket a week earlier. Jones found the Brewster net on two breakaway plays followed by a third score by Corinne Dietz.

A scheduled home game against Manson on Tuesday (Sept. 16) was cancelled. The Lady Lions will travel to Tonasket on Thursday (Sept. 18) for a league game against the Tigers. Liberty Bell will be at Entiat on Tuesday (Sept. 23) for a non-league contest.
