Cascadia Chorale rehearsals begin
Rehearsals for the Cascadia Chorale in preparation for the annual holiday concert begin (Monday) Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Methow Valley United Methodist Church. Rehearsals will be from 7 – 9 p.m. every Monday with performances in early December. No auditions are required and no choral singing experience is necessary. Music scholarships for students
Cascadia/Pipestone is accepting applications for its program, which provides music students in need with financial help for music lessons. Applications will be available after Monday (Sept. 15) at the Cascadia office in the Methow Valley Community Center, at Liberty Bell High School, at the Methow Valley Elementary School counselors’ office or through music instructors. Students must be referred by their music teacher. Applications must be completed and returned by Oct. 3 to Cascadia, P.O. Box 1013, Twisp, WA 98856, directly to the Cascadia office, or to the student’s music teacher. Auditions will be held on Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. before a panel of three selected judges. Awarded funds will be for lesson tuition only, and are sent to the teacher.
Open Merc is back
The Merc Playhouse in Twisp will present another session of Open Merc on Sept. 19, beginning at 7 p.m. The free event will be hosted by Egon Steinebach and Gregg Hardy. Musicians and performers of all types are invited to take the stage. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. For more information, call 997-7529.
