The Liberty Bell High School varsity football team was the first of the Mountain Lions’ fall sports teams to see action this year at the Bridgeport Jamboree last Saturday (Aug. 30).
The Mountain Lions faced opponents from host Bridgeport and visiting Lake Roosevelt for some abbreviated scrimmages that allowed the players to work out preseason kinks and the coaches to evaluate their prospects.
“The games were 20 plays long,” said LBHS head coach Brian Wilbur, “10 offensive and 10 defensive.”
Wilbur said his team “played about as I expected” and easily dominated both opponents with a number of running and passing touchdowns.
Liberty Bell will travel to Soap Lake on Friday (Sept. 5) for a non-league game against the Eagles. The Mountain Lions will host LaSalle in their non-league home opener on Sept. 12.
