Concert will benefit Carlton Complex Fire victims

August 21, 2014 by Methow Valley News

Too Slim & the Taildraggers, Greg Hardy and Fred Cooley, and Honey and the Killer Beez will headline a “Blues for the Burn” benefit concert on Aug. 29 at the Winthrop Barn beginning at 7 p.m.

The suggested donation is $20. All proceeds will be used to help victims of the Carlton Complex Fire, through a special fund administered by The Cove in Twisp.

The concert is sponsored by The Virginian Resort and B&S Barbecue. Twisp River Pub will provide beverages. T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

Jimmy Smith, one of the benefit’s volunteer organizers, said funds raised by the “family friendly” event are intended to be used for basic needs of local people affected directly by the fires. The Winthrop Barn is not charging for use of the space, and the bands are donating their services as well, Smith said. Granite Graphics donated the design of a poster on display around the valley.
