Recycle metal scrap from fires

August 14, 2014 by Methow Valley News

Methow Recycles is teaming up with Cascade Concrete and local contractors to help residents who lost their homes to fire deal with metal material left in the ashes, such as roofing, appliances, farm equipment, vehicles or other metal that has value.

Homeowners can receive payment for the metal, or can direct the proceeds to Methow Recycles, which will share them with local organizations that are providing fire relief.

Local contractors and a variety of volunteer organizations are available to assist with site clean-up and organization of debris, including the sorting of metal from material bound for the landfill, according to a press release from Methow Recycles. Whether you are doing the hauling yourself or hiring a contractor, the delivery must be scheduled with Cascade Concrete.

Vehicles require a title, replacement title, or hulk vehicle affidavit before they can be scrapped, even if they were totaled by the fire.
For information call Methow Recycles at 996-2696 or Cascade Concrete at 996-2435. Other companies involved in the program include WasteWise Methow, 997-8862; Palm Construction, 996-2884; Doug Haase Excavating; 996-2033, Wildcat Ridge Excavating; 997-0169, McHugh Excavating, 997-6394; F&S Excavating, 997-3444; and Lloyd Logging, 997-2441.
