Tara Cancio-Bello has joined Methow Valley Community School as a crew leader for the 2014-15 school year.
Cancio-Bello, who with her partner and 8-year-old son is relocating to Twisp from Wallingford, Vermont, brings 12 years of experience in elementary school education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in horticultural science from the University of Florida, and has taught in Alaska and Vermont.
She has taught science, mathematics and language arts at the elementary and middle school levels, led an after-school science club, served as a librarian, and coached an Odyssey of the Mind summer camp. Drama, Spanish and gardening round out her teaching experiences.
The school, which is relocating to the Methow Valley Community Center in Twisp, is accepting enrollment applications, and scholarships are available. Email methowvalleycommunityschool@gmail.com for information.
