FireWise classes coming up soon

August 7, 2014 by Methow Valley News

The Okanogan Conservation District is offering two FireWise Workshops on Aug. 16.

• An “after the fire” workshop in Pateros will focus on property that’s already burned. It will be from 9a.m.–noon, and will provide resources to assess risks in the post-fire landscape and plan for restoration. Representatives from natural resources agencies will present and discuss relevant issues.

• A risk-prevention workshop in Mazama will be held from 3-5 p.m. Landowners will learn how to improve the odds of their home surviving wildfire by implementing FireWise techniques in both landscape and home construction.

Seating is limited at each workshop and pre-registration is required by emailing kirstenc@okanogancd.org or by calling (509) 422-0855 ext. 100.
