A familiar face will be prowling the Spokane fight cage scene this weekend when 2012 Liberty Bell High School graduate Gunnar Doggett steps into the ring at the Warrior Camp Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competition at Liberty Lake on Saturday (Aug. 2).

The action gets underway at 6 p.m. at the Hub Sports Complex Proving Grounds.

It will be Doggett’s debut in amateur MMA, and he brings to the arena strong wrestling skills gained as a four-year Mountain Lion varsity wrestler. He won the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association state wrestling championship title as a 145-pound junior in 2011 and repeated in the 160-pound class as a senior in 2012.

Doggett’s opponent will be Jason Rose from Upland, California, a member of the Joe Camacho Team. Rose, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt and kickboxer, has three MMA fights to his credit with a one-win, two-loss record.
