Spaghetti feed benefit

Spaghetti feed to benefit Methow Valley families impacted by recent fires is scheduled for Aug. 9 from noon-9 p.m. at Pipestone Canyon Ranch off of Upper Beaver Creek Road. All donations will go toward relief for local families. For more information, call (360) 393-2971.

Free athletic physicals

Staff and volunteers from The Country Clinic will offer free physicals for students planning to participate in organized sports during the upcoming school year, on Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Country Clinic in Winthrop. Medical clearance is required for athletic participation. A $10 donation can be made to the Methow Valley Education Foundation’s Scholarship fund; no student will be turned away for lack of donation. Forms are available at The Country Clinic in Winthrop or Aero Methow Rescue Service in Twisp. Along the North Cascades Highway

Jack McLeod, author of The North Cascades Highway, will be featured at the Methow Conservancy’s First Tuesday program (Aug. 5) in the Pasayten Room at Sun Mountain Lodge. The free event will be from 7 – 8:30 p.m. with a no host bar and copies of McLeod’s book for sale. For more information, call 996-2870.
