Be brave

Dear Editor:

I have been watching and reading about the Carlton Complex Fire.

I lived in Winthrop in the mid-1990s. I survived the Beaver Creek Fire here in Idaho last year. I was evacuated for about a week. Almost lost my home. The wildland firefighters, air support and all the guys and gals out there on the lines are amazing. They are the heroes. They saved our valley and we are forever grateful.

People wanted to bring food to the fire camp as a way of saying thank you, and that was nixed by the superiors. We found out there was a need for fresh bandanas. They are useful for the face, head or neck. We collected so many they were sent on to other fires! It’s just one thought.

Be brave, be strong … and good luck, Methow Valley and beyond.

Marianne Bidart, Hailey, Idaho

Supports Rodriguez

Dear Editor:

I have been deputy coroner (for Okanogan County) for about 20 years here in the Methow Valley. I have worked with Dave Rodriguez for close to 30 years. He has been to many of my death investigations and many more over on the Okanogan side of the county. I strongly support Dave for the position of coroner and I hope you will too.

Larry Higbee, Winthrop
