The Wine Shed, Winthrop’s recently opened wine, beer and spirits store, is now offering wine tastings daily.
Proprietor Dave Swenson will pour samples of four wines per week, changing weekly, with an emphasis on “wines that we’ve liked and want other people to try,” he said.
Each 2-ounce sample costs $2, with “a couple of reds, a white and probably a rosé to choose from,” Swenson said. The cost of one sample is waived with each bottle of wine purchased.
While last week’s quartet featured wines from Washington, vintages from wine-growing regions around the globe may be included in future selections, Swenson said. In some cases, samples might compare and contrast two different cabernet sauvignons, for example, to illustrate the variability within a varietal, he added.
The Wine Shed, located at 130 Riverside Ave., is now open 7 days a week, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The phone number is (206) 276-1381.
