Stephanie Walker Poland

Stephanie Walker Poland, 42, passed away at her home on June 12, 2014. She was born to Bill and Ann Walker of Winthrop on May 22, 1972. She grew up in Winthrop and graduated from Liberty Bell High School in 1991. In 2001, she married Victor Poland of North Bend, Washington, and they moved to Okanogan soon after.

Steph worked a variety of jobs but some of her favorites were dealing cards and at the coffee shop. Most recently, she stayed home with her husband. She enjoyed playing poker, shooting pool, fishing and the outdoors. She was an avid Seahawks and Mariners fan. She and Victor also enjoyed helping friends.

Steph is survived by her husband, Victor Poland of Okanogan; dogs Oso and Ginger; her father and step-mother, Bill and Ann Walker of Winthrop; her sister Traci Walker of Omak; her niece Aletha Duran and her family Jeremy, Makayla, Allie and Riley of Okanogan; nephews Trent, Jared and Tyler Martin of Ellensburg and Omak; uncle Ike Gilbert of Kent, Washington; and niece Selena Walker of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her mother and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held for Stephanie at the Twisp Park on July 5 at 2 p.m. That evening, we will have a wake at 7 p.m. at the Omak Bar and Grill in Omak with a potluck and no-host bar. The family would appreciate donations to the Diabetes Foundation in lieu of flowers.
