Anne Andersen, instructional coach in the Methow Valley School District, has been appointed interim principal at Methow Valley Elementary School for the 2014-2015 school year.
Superintendent Tom Venable announced Monday (June 9) that he had selected Andersen for the interim position. Brian Patrick announced last month that he would resign at the end of the school year to move out of the district.
“Anne comes to us with a variety of educational leadership experiences,” Venable said in a recorded announcement to district families.
Those experiences include serving as principal of Crosswinds Arts and Science School, an arts and science magnet school for grades 6-10 in Woodbury, Minnesota.
She was also Head of School at Trondheim International School, an International Baccalaureate school in Norway. Methow Valley district officials have been investigating adopting the International Baccalaureate curriculum in Methow Valley schools.
As instructional coach Andersen provides “instructional leadership and support to all teachers in the district,” Venable said.
Following Patrick’s resignation, school board directors—with input from staff and the community—have begun putting together a list of qualities they seek in a new principal, Venable said last week.
